Support LPC as an Intern
Interns will primarily lead work crews and interface with families in need
The LPC approach to volunteer internships is somewhat unique. It would be better described as a ‘draft’ rather than a ‘hiring’. In the professional sports arena key players are ‘drafted’ based on skills, gifts and abilities rather than being ‘paired’ with tasks. LPC seeks to utilize the unique skills, gifts and abilities of interns in ways that complement our existing needs. For that reason, no ‘standard’ job description exists for interns. Intern applicants are asked to consider our mission & vision, our philosophy of ministry and our approach to ministry.
Following that consideration we want you to tell us what your job description should be. You know your gifts better than we would be able to assess through an interview. Tell us how you would fit into the ministry at LPC. Service on staff at LPC requires creativity, critical thinking and the ability to evaluate needs, assess solutions and implement those solutions on a daily basis. That is what you are being asked to do in this application and it is what you will be asked to do in every area of service at LPC.
In addition to the application we would ask for:
- A letter of recommendation from the applicant's home church AND campus minister (if applicable).
- We would also like a letter stating personal support from the parent(s) of the applicant.
Letters or e-mail are acceptable for both (electronic media is preferred) and should be directed to summerinterns@lpcpca.com
*Housing and meals are provided to interns through the program at no cost. Salary issues are being worked out presently. Interns are responsible to provide their own health insurance, which is mandatory.
**Intern Dates for 2009 are May 18, 2009 through Friday, August 14, 2009. These dates are FIRM and we need you here for the entireity of that time. Training begins Monday, May 18th. Interns should arrive by Sunday evening the 17th.
